CONTEXT
Existing Park adjacant to canal in Tullamore town.
DESIGN CHALLENGES
- Segregating public access and servicing on tight site
- Merging building with landscaping
- Creating indoor / outdoor performance / exhibition areas
- Creation of an urban space for ceremonial / festival events
DESIGN RESPONSE
Initial concept drawings picked up a more landscape integration with buildings, how the public moved across the park and building and canal and creation of semi enclosed sheltered areas for outdoor activities and performance.
The final scheme evolved to be more budget conscious and enclosed using Origami forms to create a building sculpture within the park. The geometries of the building are replicated in the landscaping design.
